This is the winter wedding photos of Neil and Rachel which took place Yate registry office followed by the reception at Thornbury Castle. Thornbury Castle is a lovely venue for a small intimate wedding it’s dark and filled with atmosphere specially in the winter when it’s nice to be indoors next to a open fire. There’s not many weddings smaller than 4 adults, 2 children and one baby. I love photographing weddings like this, it gives me a chance to really push my skills.
I think a lot of people think as the wedding is small it’s not worth paying for a good photographer but thats false thinking. I think you want someone who is going to be unobtrusive yet capture all the moments and capture the atmosphere mixing with ease with your guests.
Neil and Rachel knew just what they wanted, they liked the idea of the big wedding but funds wouldn’t allow so they decided to just invite mum and dad and not even tell them till they were there that they were getting married. The plan was they were going to the local registry office and then off for a cream tea in the after noon and Thornbury Castle fitted the bill perfectly. I have to say it was filled with atmosphere.
The inlaws rather than being all surprised were almost stunned into silence at first but soon warmed up to the idea and great time was had by all, including myself.
The happy couple also knew they wanted fantastic photos, being so small it had to be reportage with as there was a limit to how much you can stand posing, The images had to be something that was going to last them a life time. Neil and Rachel went through a lot of photographers and the final decision come down to both my personality and my style which as I’ve said before is always flattering. I spent an afternoon before hand getting the kids used to me and the camera and we got some great bonus images.
Well I hope you enjoy the images, If you’re planning an intimate winter wedding at Thornbury Castle or anywhere summer or winter do give me a call and I promise to do my best to photograph your wedding.
